i have been in a pink phase for the better part of this past year, but there is something about this summer that is making me rediscover red. these beautiful red peonies were a lovely gift that match with my new iro jacket.
this jacket is the perfect complement to pretty much everything in my wardrobe. it makes a simple t shirt and jeans look so much more special.

my marie kondo-ing of my closet helped me identify some holes in my wardrobe, namely nice blouses that i can wear with a pencil skirt for work but with jeans for a night out.
of course isabel marant has the perfect solution. these blouses are the same fabric but slightly different styles and colors. the silk jacquard has a subtle print, and is still substantial that the top is not at all see through.
the black version shows a bit too much skin for work, but i should be able to swing it with a blazer over it. the neckline is so flattering.

rather than inundate this post with pictures from my trip to puerto rico, i chose my favorite three.

i was doing very well with my shopping fast this spring because i decided that a new shower was more important than clothes. but then i visited the isabel marant store in soho with a dear friend. why are sailor stripes are so much more interesting than subway tiles?
in true marie condo style, i am trying to be more cognizant about what i bring into my home. these definitely spark joy.

i spent last week in puerto rico for work and managed to sneak in a few days of vacation beforehand. a good friend recommended marmalade for dinner, and she was totally right. the menu was a prix fixe tasting menu, with plenty of vegetarian options.
the food was so flavorful and creative – probably one of the best meals i have had in a while.
ceviche with yucca chips
a playful take on spaghetti and meatballs, with lentil balls and squash spaghetti
black truffle tagliatelle

yea my desserts don’t look like this either

as much as i love fashion and well made clothes, one area that i refused to shell out money was activewear. i am not a hard core gym rat or runner, and figured i could just as easily sweat in $20 capris from target as $100 capris from lululemon. plus, my exercise tees wear out so quickly that it didn’t make sense to spend a lot on them.
but then i stumbled into the outdoor voices store in soho and i was a goner. the fabric feels like it is made from “clouds and magic” (the new york times agrees) and the cuts are just so flattering. this kit (the running sweats and matching hoodie) has been glued to my body all weekend. i know i am going to have to wash it at some point, but i am going to put that off as long as possible (i.e., i will wait until people comment on the weird smell coming from me).
this is also going to become my new go-to flying outfit. it (almost) makes me excited to get on a plane.

upon a good friend’s recommendation, i tried out ilili for brunch this past weekend. for $28, you get coffee, a cocktail, a main dish, and a side. not too bad for nyc, especially when the food is this delicious.
their version of eggs benedict. i want to bathe in that hollandaise.
spring is in full swing in nyc. the abundance of tulips makes me smile every time.

if i had to pick a store in nyc to spend my last days in, it would definitely be abc carpet and home. for those of you who have never been, it is a bigger, more eclectic, and sadly more expensive version of anthropologie. i always find something there that inspires me, and luckily the prices are so out of my reach that my wallet is happy.
i stopped in last weekend, though, and they were having a sale on french linen towels and napkins. oops.
but look how pretty.

after many years living in nyc, i finally made it back to what is probably my favorite brunch spot in the city. clinton street baking company’s infamous pancakes are just as good as everyone says, but the line always deterred me. luckily, they opened a new location right next to the original restaurant, so when we arrived at 9am on sunday morning, we were seated right away.
