flowers from the market, lipstick that came in the most stunning packaging, and a new floral paris inspired candle are some of the small things that are making me happy this winter.

the (finally) cool weather here in nyc has me a bit wistful for this summer day i spent at the botanical gardens. we went to see the georgia o’keefe exhibit, and stayed for the gorgeous lawns and flora.

you can see from my last post that i have been a bit obsessed with fresh flowers lately. after watching a million youtube videos, including this one that i love, i decided to try my hand at making proper bouquets. i bought three bouquets at the chelsea flower market and this is what i ended up with.

i absolutely love anemones, and i finally got my hands on a gorgeous bunch from the chelsea farmers market. the black marks are from the pistils.
the pink ceramic vase is from anthropologie, and the pink glass vase is muuto.
the print in the background is from the affordable art fair. i loved the colors and the overall summer vibes.

two of my favorite things. it is a special day when i can treat myself to both.
the foxglove came from the farmer’s market. the woman at the stand told me that lore has it that fairies would run through the forest, and the imprints on the leaves were their footprints.
my lingerie drawer has been overtaken by neutrals, so i thought it was time to inject some pink back into it.
i can’t find a link to the blush set, but the hot pink set can be found here.

did anyone else see this article in the new york times about united apparel liquidators? i had been to one of their nashville locations many years ago, but pretty much forgot about it until reading this. they recently opened a new location in my hometown, so i was excited to visit when i went home a few weeks ago.
i admit, i went a little insane there but picked up some really great pieces for a steal. this gorgeous fendi is such a great size, and the patent leather is very eye catching yet durable.
aren’t these beautiful farmer’s market flowers an excellent backdrop? i wish every season was peony season.

i went to a beautiful wedding at the bronx zoo, and came home with one of the gorgeous centerpieces. i absolutely love the mix of faded pinks, grays, and whites.

i woke up extra early this morning and met my dear friend jill at the chelsea flower market (thanks jill for the iphone pictures!). every morning, monday through saturday, west 28th street between 6th and 7th avenues becomes an urban flower and plant oasis.
as tempting as it is to sleep in and do nothing on saturdays (or basically everyday), i rejected my inner lazy bum. and now, i have gone to the flower market, sat in a cute cafe and had coffee, arranged my flowers, and posted on my blog, and it isn’t even noon yet. i have been so productive that i have no qualms about sitting on my butt the rest of this rainy day.
oh btw we went a little photo happy.
these flowers were as big as our faces. i loved them.
the spoils of my trip (i wish i remembered the flower varieties but these kinds of things don’t stay in my brain):

while sorting through my pictures from london, i came across these from a beautiful sunday morning spent at the columbia road flower market. too bad i left 3 days later, or else i would have ended up coming home with far too many blossoms.
i loved this little coffee stand in the middle of the market.
