i was going through my summer euro trip photos and i realized that i never posted these pictures of a glorious meal we had at gymkhana. i typically do not eat indian food in restaurants, but i always make an exception for this wonderful restaurant.

last month, i spent a whirlwind 36 hours in london for a business trip. since i was there for such a short period of time, i wanted to stay in a new neighborhood. i chose the kensington hotel, and boy, i haven’t had such strong decor inspiration since i was at hotel thoumieux in paris.
the kensington is such a perfect mix of english eccentricity and modern glam. i love the colorful but subdued lounges, and of course the marble in the bathroom was lovely. every time i turned a corner, there was something new to see (or a chess board, inviting me to sit). the location is also fantastic, and the guest service was exceptional.
lovely bike on the front steps, available to rent.
room service lemon tart.
the bar and cocktail lounge.
stair case to the guest rooms.
the library.
the tea parlor.
am obsessed with this china pattern.
have you ever seen such a chic business center?
oh yea its raining. because its london.

i have a tendency to buy more when i am traveling than i would when i am home in nyc, perhaps because i feel like my purchases are good souvenirs of my trip. in the past, this has led to many unnecessary and useless items in my closet and home.
therefore, even though i was in london for a month, i made a concerted effort to only buy things that i would also buy if i was in nyc. this is all i came home with for myself, plus one blouse that i will post about later. i am clearly going through a pink phase.

while sorting through my pictures from london, i came across these from a beautiful sunday morning spent at the columbia road flower market. too bad i left 3 days later, or else i would have ended up coming home with far too many blossoms.
i loved this little coffee stand in the middle of the market.

on a leisurely sunday, i shared a four hour champagne brunch with a dear friend in london at hakkasan. the food was lovely, and the company was even lovelier. easily one of the best meals i have ever had in london.
oh and yea, all this food was for two people.
i love the hidden entrance in this back alley.
starter salad.

i met a few good friends for an early cocktail at the edition hotel, and fell in love with the food, the atmosphere, and most of all, the decor. i love the mix of the traditional architecture with the modern furniture and that gallery wall…

while i was in london, i had afternoon tea with two good friends at sketch. the decor was absolutely incredible – every room was decorated completely differently. and the bathrooms were individual eggs, sitting atop an underground bar. oh, and the food was pretty great too.
entrance, complete with hopscotch.
room right off the main entrance.
close up of desserts in the case.
room where we had tea.
assortment of cakes and sandwiches that came with the tea.
