went out the window as soon as i made coconut pancakes.
hey, at least there is fruit on them?
used this recipe, and added shredded sweetened coconut to the batter.

these cold weekend mornings are perfect for staying in with hot coffee, cashmere socks, and a warm frittata just out of the oven. used a variation of this recipe (less spinach, more cheese…oops).
turns out frittatas are much easier to make than i thought.

i finally made it to laduree soho, not for the salted caramel macarons, but for a lovely sunday morning brunch. okay, there were salted caramel macarons involved too. i’m only human.
all the colors under the rainbow
almond milk latte
their version of avocado toast. yes, mine doesn’t look this beautiful either.
omlette
aforementioned macarons

i finally made it to superiority burger during a low key night in the east village. their menu is entirely vegetarian (and can be made vegan upon request), and while their “burger” selection remains the same, the sides are always changing. i am not sure this was the best veggie burger i have ever had, but it was pretty darn good.
“sloppy joe” with fried onions on top. i think i liked this even more than the burger.
mambo potatoes
after dinner, we had a lovely nightcap at evelina.

if i had to pick my favorite restaurant in nyc, it would be the nomad, hands down. i remember my very first unforgettable meal here years ago with some of my closest girl friends, and i have been fortunate to go back several times since.
here are some pictures from a delicious meal i shared there a few weekends ago:
some cocktails to start.
the onion table bread. they give you as much as you want!
egg.
eggplant parmigiana.
gazpacho.
roasted squash.
and their most famous dish – their chicken.
milk and honey dessert.
sour cherry crumble and ricotta ice cream. sounds so weird but it was so so so so good.

the end of this summer has been so hot that i can’t bear to eat hot meals anymore. enter my new favorite granola recipe, courtesy of the genius daniel humm. because of course he makes the best granola ever.
i have been eating it with vanilla soy yogurt and a big bowl of blueberries.

i had an impromptu dinner at abc kitchen with a dear friend last week. we didn’t have reservations – just walked in early on a monday and ended up snagging the table of a couple that had cancelled their reservation.
abc kitchen has been on my list for a very, very long time, but i was never able to get a decent reservation time/day. i was so happy to finally try it – and it was worth the wait.
sorry in advance for the crappy iphone pictures.
housemade ricotta with rhubarb topping, and grilled bread
pasta with parmesan, pistachio pesto, and swiss chard
mushroom pizza with fresh egg
salted caramel ice cream with caramel corn
