I thought it would be fun to chronicle how I think about “making over” a room step by step. The next room on my plate is the sitting room/my office. While it looks fine, I want to make some changes that are more to my taste. This is my inspiration image. I love the mix of the preppy stripes with the ethnic rugs.

We need to call an electrician to get an overhead light installed. In the meantime, I’m going to paint the walls white to help brighten everything up. We also have a TV console and new coffee table on the way.

My favorite thing to do on the Cape besides lounging at the beach. The cute little side table came home with me.

I took advantage of an appointment at Framebridge in Williamsburg to also meet up with a friend for brunch at Le Crocodile. The vibe was *very* Williamsburg, and the food was delicious (though a bit pricey).

Here is my take on the Beatnic quinoa taco salad, which is one of the salads I miss the most from NYC. I used soy chorizo from Trader Joe’s, this recipe for dressing, and skipped the quinoa. I added crushed chips on top for crunch. I forgot to add avocado, but thought it was a pretty good dupe anyway.

The kitchen is one room in the house where we only made a few changes. The floors got stained along with the rest of the house, and I painted the walls white and switched the hardware. We also switched the light fixtures and added some art. The “new” space is so much brighter and homier, and I love spending time in here.
