I used a rare weekend off work to tackle the incredibly complicated Tartine morning bun recipe. While they ended up far from perfect, they tasted pretty delicious.

Some leftovers from the holidays, and a clean slate for a new year.

I achieved a reading goal this year that I never thought I would – I read 52 books in 52 weeks. I suppose there is a slight upside to being home all day, and focusing more on books and less on screens.

The below books are from my last batch. I had tried and failed to finish The Luminaries for years, so I thought it was a great book to finish this challenge with.

These were also excellent, and 4 of the 5 by women authors.

I have been wanting to make these cookies for so long, and finally got around to it this weekend. I added vanilla to the white dough and espresso to the brown dough, which gave the cookies just a bit of oompf.

They were perfect for a little tea time.

This was a really solid set of five. My favorite was The Underground Railroad but they were each fascinating in their own way.

My favorite was the Glass Hotel.  Beautiful prose, and enough twists that I didn’t want to put it down.
